About the speaker: Dr. Caroline Winterer is an Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Oregon. She is the author of The Culture of Classicism: Ancient Greece and Rome in American Intellectual Life, 1780-1910 (Johns Hopkins U Press, 2002) and The Mirror of Antiquity: American Women and the Classical Tradition, 1750-1900 (Cornell U Press, 2007).
