Course Description: The principal goal of this course is to develop an understanding of, and appreciation for, the achievements of the civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean during the period 500-146 BCE. We will focus primarily on Greece but will also examine how Greece interacted with its neighbors, especially Persia and Egypt.

Prerequisite: None.

GE credit (Old): Arts & Humanities and Writing Experience.
GE credit (New): Arts & Humanities, World Cultures and Writing Experience.

Format: Lecture - 3 hours; Term Paper.
