Professor Carey Seal Receives Faculty Development Award

imageFaculty Development Awards are bestowed by the Faculty Development Program. The purpose of the awards is to encourage scholarly achievement by faculty members whose heavy involvement in service for the University or the community at large has impacted the time they can devote to their research. Recipients are relieved of teaching responsibilities for one quarter and receive a cash stipend to be put toward their research. The Department of Classics nominated Professor Seal and the award was approved by the office of the Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs. With the time and resources he has received with the honor, Professor Seal will devote his time in Fall Quarter to working on his second book. His sophomore manuscript is a study of political and moral thought in Latin epic poetry of the Flavian period (69 - 96 CE).

Congratulations, Professor Seal!
