Greek 103B. Homer: Odyssey (4 units)

Course Description: This course will introduce students to Homeric Greek through selected readings in Books 1-4 of Homer’s Odyssey. The grammar and vocabulary of Homeric Greek will be covered. Students will learn to scan Homer’s dactylic hexameter poetry. Students will read all of the Odyssey in English. There will also be regular quizzes, two exams, and three papers.
Prerequisite: Greek 100 or consent of instructor (tbrelinski@ucdavis.edu).
GE credit (New): Arts & Humanities and Writing Experience.
Format: Lecture - 3 hours; Term Paper.
